Knox 2025 Wrapped: A Look Back at the Lord’s Work Among Us This Past Year

It’s December again. You’re probably reflecting on what God has done in your own life and family—but here’s a moment to reflect on what God has done among us, as the body of Christ.
This year, in many ways, was the solidification of what God began last year. We witnessed a few baptisms and welcomed new members. Our church continued to grow both in depth and width, and for that we rejoice. We currently have three men being trained as deacons (Aaron S., Cayman B., Ewadson L.), one brother in the final stages of pastoral preparation (Steven Larson), and—one of our greatest joys this year—we installed one of our pastoral apprentices as a pastor (Lucas Cabral). We end the year with two pastors serving Knox, and a growing pipeline of leaders being formed.
God also entrusted us with many visitors throughout the year—a beautiful opportunity to strengthen believers and proclaim the Gospel to unbelievers. Online, our sermons were streamed thousands of times. Through our church blog, we addressed critical issues facing Christians today—Pride Month, MAID, Roman Catholicism, worship, church leadership, prayer, masculinity, politics, and more—equipping not only Knox but believers across Canada.
We had precious opportunities to grow in our love for one another and for God through Bible studies, men’s groups, women’s book clubs, and community-building events like the men’s BBQ and our summer picnic.
This year, we also held our first Mission Night, a significant milestone for Knox. Through it, the Lord gave us the privilege of beginning to support Mark Schroeder, a missionary preparing to bring the Gospel to Japan. We thank God for allowing us to participate—however small—in the global advance of Christ’s kingdom.
Together, we journeyed through Scripture: 2 Peter, the Gospel of John, Revelation, Malachi, and our first “Open to Reason” apologetics series, tackling themes such as male leadership in the home, the sexual revolution, faith and reason, the exclusivity of Christ, and the problem of evil. We celebrated the Reformation by studying the doctrine of repentance. We celebrated our second anniversary by reflecting on Law and Gospel.
One of God’s greatest provisions for us this year was opening the door for us to meet in our new location in Bridgeland—a neighbourhood God placed on our hearts from the very beginning. The building has been a tremendous gift.
And toward the end of the year, Knox had the privilege of beginning a partnership with Believers United in Christ, a university ministry seeking to foster spiritual conversations and Bible studies on campuses across Calgary.
This year also marked meaningful growth through Knox School, our online teaching ministry. Through these classes, we had the joy of walking together through weighty and foundational truths—examining the love of God, studying the doctrine of hell, and exploring the contours of a Christian worldview. These sessions allowed us to teach, equip, and strengthen believers not only within Knox but beyond our immediate church family, helping men and women think biblically about some of the most important doctrines in the Christian faith.
We also launched our podcast, Echoes – Ancient Wisdom for a New World. This new project brings timeless biblical truths into today’s fast-paced world. With short, insightful reflections, we seek to connect Scripture to the challenges and joys people face in modern life—another way we aim to serve, equip, and reach our city.
Looking back, we are amazed at the ways God has blessed and grown our church. We step into the next year with gratitude and eagerness to continue proclaiming Christ and making disciples to the glory of God.
We are deeply thankful for all God has done at Knox Baptist Church this year!
As we look toward 2026, we are eager to see how God will continue working through us to reach more people in Calgary with the Gospel.
Will you join us in this mission?
If you’ve been attending but haven’t taken the step of committing to this body yet, we would love to walk with you toward church membership. Becoming a member is one of the most practical ways to join the mission—linking arms, sharing life, and taking responsibility for the work God is doing among us.
Also, if you are able, consider giving above and beyond your regular support by setting up a one-time or recurring gift through the GIVE button at the top of our website.
Let’s press on together for His glory.
