Epstein and the Thirst for Justice: What Atrocious Evil Reveals About Sin, Judgment, and Hell

With the release of the Epstein files, the reality of the depravity of man has become crystal clear. Not that we needed this specific case to see and understand it, but it is one of those situations where this becomes blatantly obvious.

Not only does it make the reality of sin clear, but it also reminds us of the necessity of hell. Sometimes we look at the world through rose-coloured glasses, and we end up thinking that hell is unfair or unnecessary. Sometimes we need extreme cases to make us once again thirsty for justice.

The reality is that the abhorrent sins committed by Epstein and all the people related to him will not go unpunished. When we look at these atrocious sins committed against children, ranging from human trafficking to sexual violence and other unspeakable evils, we know that there is no punishment or penalty that our human justice system can apply that can truly do justice to this case. But we can find comfort in the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:6: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”

The day will come when these people will be resurrected to stand in judgment before God, and every single sin, every single action, every single word, and every single thought will be judged justly. And hell will be God’s glorious response to the deep darkness of this world. These men and women will have to face the wrath of God for eternity. They will not only experience death, but eternal death.

And this is a sobering reality: not only they, but all who do evil, all those who oppose the Kingdom of God, all those who oppose Jesus Christ, will one day come before the throne of God in judgment. And the only way to be saved from the wrath to come is to put our trust in Jesus Christ, because He, on that cross, faced the full wrath of God for sin so that His people would not have to.

In this life, many like Jeffrey Epstein might mock Jesus and mock Christians, but the day will come when their mouths will be stopped, and despite the great terror, there will be no place to hide, no moment of rest, no saviour to rescue.

What a horrible thing it is for sinners to be in the hands of an angry God.
