After the Election: A Christian Response

The federal election results are in—and if you’re feeling frustrated, disappointed, or even angry, you’re not alone. Emotions are running high across the country. But as Christians, we’re called to respond differently.
Romans 13 reminds us that no leader rises apart from God’s sovereign hand. That means what happened on Monday wasn’t random or out of control—it was part of His plan. Even when things don’t look hopeful, we can rest knowing our God is still reigning.
It’s easy to direct our frustration at those who voted differently. But instead, let’s turn to prayer. 1 Timothy 2:1–4 calls us to pray for our leaders. So let’s pray for Mark Carney, for the Liberal party, and for our country—not because we agree with every decision, but because we trust in God’s greater purpose.
Even when things don’t seem to be going “our way,” God’s will is still good. Let’s be people of peace, prayer, and hope.
“The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will.” — Proverbs 21:1
