2023: End-of-Year Update

2023 is coming to an end, and we have much to be grateful for. The Lord has blessed our church plant in many ways.

We had 12 adults who moved from Winnipeg to Calgary to help plant Knox, and God has provided in every way: jobs, housing, health, etc. We don't take it for granted, and we know that if we are here today, it is by God's gracious providence.

God was so gracious also to bring people already living in Calgary to join our church for worship, fellowship, and service - which is amazing!

Our church was born four months ago, but in such a short period of time, we have some things we want to highlight and celebrate:

• Knox Men's Mentorship Program: the men of our church are going through the book "Disciplines of a Godly Man," and meeting bi-weekly to be discipled into becoming or improving as godly men!

• Knox Kids: We have activities for our kids from 1 to 5 years old so they can learn from the Bible and be trained to participate in worship gatherings as they grow older.

•  Worship and Prayer Nights: we had 2 of these nights in which we gathered together as a church to worship God and pray for our local church, other churches and our city. And we are planning on having the monthly next year! 

• Guest Preachers: We had two guest preachers bringing the word to our church! Thank you, Prs. Daryl and Johnny! It's a blessing to have different preachers exposing God's word to us, and it also foments the spirit of fellowship between churches.

• Visitors from Trails Church Winnipeg: we had many visitors from our sending church in Winnipeg, and it has been such a blessing and encouragement to us! You guys, keep coming!

• Monthly Potlucks: Every first/second weekend of the month, we have a potluck after the service for fellowship among the church members and to give newcomers the opportunity to be more involved in the life of our church.

• Financial Help: we are very thankful for all the people who have partnered financially with our church. The money is important for us to keep going and to make future plans, but I think more than that, it is super encouraging to see people who trust us and want to see what we are doing as a church grow. So, thankfully, we have been paying all our bills and even saving money for our future endeavours! 

And these are just some of the good things we are grateful for. And we are very much looking forward to seeing what God's going to do next year in and through our church.

Our prayer for the next year is twofold:

• Conversions: we want to see the people we have been sharing our faith with and many others coming to saving faith in Jesus Christ - repenting and being baptized.

• Spiritual Growth: we want to see those who are already members of our church grow in their spiritual lives! We want to see a church that is growing in its faith in Jesus and in its love of the saints. We want our people to visibly grow in the knowledge of God through his Word to a life of holiness before the Lord.
